BOOM Esports' Yopaj

BOOM Esports has established itself as not just Southeast Asia’s greatest Dota 2 team but also one of the best.

BOOM displayed their strength by winning the Winter Tour regional league and the Winter Tour Regional Finals for Southeast Asia after a lucky break that allowed them to start the 2021-2022 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) season in Division I instead of Division II.

BOOM also performed well against international opposition, winning the GAMERS GALAXY: Invitational Series Dubai 2022, defeating Tundra Esports, Team Secret, Nigma Galaxy, and The International 10 champions Team Spirit.

The mid lane is the most entertaining in competitive Dota 2 because it brings out the best and worst aspects of two players’ abilities. Over the previous year, Tundra Esports’ Leon “Nine” Kirilin and BOOM Esports’ Erin Jasper “Yopaj” Ferrer have built themselves as two of the most influential players in the world. And most flexible Midlanders in competitive Dota 2. On March 6, 2022, the two players competed in the Gamers Galaxy: Dota 2 Invitational Series Dubai 2022 grand finals, before which Nine paid Yopaj a high compliment. Yopaj is, in Nine’s opinion, the best midlaner he’s faced in the past year. Therefore he was looking forward to defeating him in the grand final. The grand finals did not turn out entirely as Nine had intended.

Yopaj may be able to take over as the carrier.

Yopaj isn’t simply a space-creating monster in the middle of the game; he can also scale into the late game.

Yopaj keeps up with his carry, Souliya “JaCkky” Khoomphetsavong, and even outfishes him occasionally.

In-game one of BOOM’s lower bracket match versus Team Secret, Yopaj on Kunkka had a 15,000 gold edge over all other cores in the game.

Yopaj devotes a significant amount of time to analyzing matches to improve.

In Dota 2, the midline is known as the “one-versus-one” lane, where each team’s two most mechanically proficient players compete against each other with a bit of backup from the rest of the group.

Even in a competitive environment, midlaners will spend most of the laning stage alone.

Because the midla ne is viewed as a two-player fight, many midlaners will spend their time honing their mechanics and grinding MMR in pubs.

Yopaj is no exception, but he admits that he now spends less time playing and more time honing his skills in other ways.

“I only play 10 games a day when it’s just training time.” And now I don’t play pub nearly as much as I used to. Yopaj admitted, “I spend more time viewing replays.”

9 Says Yopaj Is The Finest Midlaner

In an interview earlier than the grand final of the Players Galaxy: Dota 2 Invitational Series Dubai 2022, Tundra Esports’ Leon “9” Kirilin remarked that BOOM Esports’ Erin Jasper “Yopaj” Ferrer is one of the finest midlaners he has faced this year.
